Tyler Bradshaw Named Executive Director

FAIRFIELD, OH (June 21, 2021)—The Nuxhall Foundation is adding a new starter to the rotation.

With a desire to protect the legacy of “The Ole Lefthander” for decades to come, Tyler Bradshaw has been named the Executive Director for The Nuxhall Foundation, effective immediately.

“This role is an unbelievably perfect fit for me because I get to serve Joe’s memory and the people he loved every single day,” says Bradshaw. “I grew up spending my summer nights listening to Joe and Marty while just wishing I could grow up to be like them. Now, I get to lead the organization that honors one of my greatest heroes. Not everyone gets an opportunity like this, and I realize how blessed I am to help carry on Joe’s story. I’m just going to work every day to try and make Joe and the Nuxhall family proud.”

Bradshaw’s role is a value-add for the Foundation. Volunteer CEO & President Kim Nuxhall will remain in his position; together, along with a committed Board of Directors, the two will direct the day-to-day operations and long-term strategic goals of the foundation that honors Nuxhall’s father.

“We have truly ‘struck gold’ with the addition of Tyler Bradshaw,” says Nuxhall. “His outstanding character and competence along with his unique ability to articulate all facets of the Nuxhall Foundation give us a high level of confidence in our future.”

Beyond his association as a lifelong Cincinnati Reds fan, Bradshaw’s connection to the Nuxhall name runs deep. For nine years, Bradshaw served as the Voice of the Hamilton Joes, the summer collegiate baseball team that bears Joe’s name. In 2015, Bradshaw joined the Board of Directors with the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields. As a volunteer with the organization, Bradshaw is a familiar face at Miracle League functions and fundraisers, often serving as an event emcee. In 2019, Bradshaw became one of the inaugural members of The Nuxhall Foundation Board of Directors, and in 2020 he co-led the organization’s successful COVID Can’t campaign, which raised more than $175,000 to support the Nuxhall Miracle League Fields.

“The game plan is simple,” says Bradshaw. “In everything we do, we are going to make sure that future generations know who Joe Nuxhall was, what he stood for, and why his story is important. They will know the type of man The Ole Lefthander was and the character traits he embodied by looking at the projects that he inspired. Ultimately, initiatives like the Miracle League Fields and the Memorial Scholarship are all tangible manifestations of Joe’s unbelievably-generous heart.”

Bradshaw’s top priorities on the new job include navigating a return to in-person events, crafting a new strategic plan, the rollout of a highly-anticipated Nuxhall Miracle League mascot, and the launch of an ambitious fundraising campaign for the construction of The Hope Center—an indoor recreational facility that will provide a year-round home for athletes with special needs.

The Greater Cincinnati community reacted to the announcement with joy and optimism, including Joe’s broadcast partner of more than 30 years, Marty Brennaman.

“The choice of Tyler as the Executive Director of The Nuxhall Foundation could not have been a better one,” says Brennaman, retired Hall of Fame broadcaster for the Cincinnati Reds. “Considering his background and the success he has enjoyed at every level would indicate, without a doubt, Tyler Bradshaw will be an overwhelming success to a foundation that is very near to my heart. I am looking forward to big things on the horizon.”

Fairfield Mayor Steve Miller also weighed in on the news: “The Nuxhall Foundation has done a tremendous job in helping so many people and giving back to our communities, and appointing Tyler Bradshaw as its Executive Director will be a move that will ensure the organization will continue to produce excellent results and continue the mission to help others. Over the years, Tyler has shown his abilities and skillset to not only be a great leader but to be an example to others. I am positive that under his leadership the organization will grow and prosper to achieve even greater heights.”

Bradshaw and his wife, Paige, have been married since 2019 and were just recently blessed with the birth of their first child, a son named Jackson. Bradshaw is a graduate of Fairfield High School and Miami University, where he ends a successful decade-long career in college admission. Bradshaw is a well-regarded sports announcer in Greater Cincinnati for Chatterbox Sports, as well as a passionate mental health advocate. After losing his father, Scott, to suicide in 2013, Bradshaw started Seeya Bub, a blog where he writes regularly about suicide prevention, grief, and mental health.

“My dad had a heart for individuals with special needs,” says Bradshaw, “and in many ways, my dad reminded me so much of Joe. That connection isn’t lost on me. Kim and I have bonded tremendously in our grief over losing our fathers. Every day, I know that we each wake up just wanting to make our dads proud.”

“I just can’t think of a better person to share in carrying the legacy torch that Dad has passed down,” says Nuxhall.

The Nuxhall Foundation is the legacy foundation for former Major League Baseball pitcher and longtime Cincinnati Reds broadcaster, Joe Nuxhall. A central foundation project is The Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields, an entirely accessible baseball and recreational facility where every player with every challenge gets every chance to play. More than 200 players between ages 4 to 76 participate in programming at the Miracle League Fields. Additional legacy projects include The Joe Nuxhall Memorial Scholarship (providing scholarships to all fourteen Butler County high schools) and The Joe Nuxhall Character Education Fund.
