Fan-Favorite Nuxy Bash Celebrates Special Needs Athletes on July 26

FAIRFIELD, OH (July 18, 2025)—It wouldn’t be summer without a Nuxy Bash at the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields!

The Nuxy Bash returns to the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 7:00pm. The event, which includes a celebrity softball game and Rozzi fireworks show, celebrates The Ole Lefthander with an evening of fun and community on what would have been Joe Nuxhall’s 97th birthday.

“I just wish Dad could be here to play right alongside our all-stars and celebrity friends,” says Kim Nuxhall, President and Board Chairman of The Nuxhall Foundation. “He would be so proud of the tremendous good that has been done in our community, and more than anything, we hope this event is our opportunity to say thank you to all the good folks who make it happen.”

This year’s Nuxy Bash will feature the traditional celebrity softball game, combining celebrity friends of the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields on teams with players from the Great Miami Valley YMCA Youth League and the Therapeutic Recreation for the Disabled Adult League. Kim Nuxhall and the league’s all-stars will play alongside local celebrities, including: Local 12’s Bob Herzog and John Gumm, WCPO meteorologist Cameron Hardin, Q102’s Mollie Watson, 700 WLW’s Bill “Seg” Dennison, director of the Reds Community Fund Charley Frank, 2022 Nuxhall Humanitarian Award recipient Teddy Kremer, local commercial superstar Ed Hartman, and more.

After the celebrity softball game, the evening will conclude with a spectacular nighttime display from the award-winning artists at Rozzi Fireworks. The fireworks display is set to take place at approximately 9:30pm.

This year, artists from Inspiration Studios will also be selling uniquely created pieces at a pop-up shop at the event. Inspiration Studios is a non-profit organization that inspires individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities to lead purposeful, healthy, and self-directed lives through innovative programming and services at their studio in Hamilton. Many of the artists at Inspiration Studios are also athletes at the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields.

Admission to the event is free, and no tickets are required. Concessions will be available for cash purchases, along with ice cream available from Special Neat Treats—an ice cream truck owned and operated by Joel Wegener and his children, Mary Kate and Josh, who have Down syndrome. The Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Field’s mascot, Joey the Can-Do Kangaroo, will also be in attendance, and copies of the Foundation’s children’s book about Joey will be available for purchase.

The Nuxhall Foundation is the legacy foundation for former Major League Baseball pitcher and longtime Cincinnati Reds broadcaster, the late Joe Nuxhall. The Nuxhall Foundation carries forward three important legacy projects. A central project of The Nuxhall Foundation is The Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields—an entirely accessible baseball and recreational facility where every player with every challenge gets every chance to play. Historically, nearly 300 athletes with physical and developmental disabilities aged 4 to 80 participate in programs at the Miracle League Fields. The Joe Nuxhall Memorial Scholarship (in conjunction with the Fairfield Community Foundation) provides nearly $30,000 per year in scholarship money to student athletes at all 14 Butler County high schools. This year, the Joe Nuxhall Memorial Scholarship will cross the million-dollar mark in scholarship money awarded. The Joe Nuxhall Character Education Fund pitches good character to young leaders throughout Greater Cincinnati by delivering and supporting programs that stress the importance of integrity, humility, respect, and kindness. In 2024, The Nuxhall Foundation launched a $12 million capital campaign to construct The Hope Center, a year-round recreational facility for athletes with special needs that will help to create the world's most comprehensive athletic campus for individuals with disabilities.
