COVID Still Can't Campaign Launches November 8

FAIRFIELD, OH (October 19, 2021)—With the cancellation of another major fundraiser due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, The Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields will launch COVID Still Can’t—a virtual fundraiser to support the organization’s next big dream.

“We were set for a fantastic, in-person Miracle Ball this year,” says Kim Nuxhall, volunteer CEO and President of The Nuxhall Foundation, “and we were unbelievably disappointed when we had to make the tough decision to postpone yet again. COVID Still Can’t is our opportunity to prove, once again, that COVID still can’t stop our mission to serve players and families with special needs.”

COVID Still Can’t is a virtual awareness and fundraising campaign that kicks off on Monday, November 8, 2021. Throughout the three-week campaign, The Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields will feature videos and other messages on their Facebook and social media platforms to raise awareness for the special needs athletes and families who find purpose at the facility. Supporters will be encouraged to share those videos and to give online at www.NuxhallMiracleLeague.org/donate.

Funds raised from this year’s campaign will be dedicated towards construction of The Hope Center: a 28,000 square foot indoor facility for special needs athletes. This one-of-a-kind facility will be home to the Butler County Special Olympics and will feature a basketball arena, adaptable fitness and multipurpose facility, miniature bowling alleys, and other unique amenities designed specifically for athletes with special needs.

“Hope knows no season, we are committed to becoming the most comprehensive campus in the world for athletes with special needs,” says Nuxhall Foundation Executive Director Tyler Bradshaw. “The awareness and funding we will raise during COVID Still Can’t will help us satisfy a need for our players and their families. Together, we can turn their dream into our reality.”

Fans and supporters of the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields will recall the COVID Can’t theme from last year’s inaugural virtual campaign. The 2020 campaign raised more than $175,000 to support the initiatives and operations at the facility.

“Last year, we worried that COVID might interrupt our progress and momentum, and the generosity of our supporters erased that worry in a big way,” says Nuxhall. “Now, with The Hope Center dream in reach, we know that our supporters can hit another home run this year.”

The Nuxhall Foundation is the legacy foundation for former Major League Baseball pitcher and longtime Cincinnati Reds broadcaster, Joe Nuxhall. A central foundation project is The Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields—an entirely accessible baseball and recreational facility where every player with every challenge gets every chance to play. More than 200 players between ages 4 to 77 participate in programming at the Miracle League Fields.
