FAIRFIELD, OH (February 16, 2026)—Our adult-league all-stars are ready to fire up the fun at The Joy Factory; TRD Adult League Softball at the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields is right around the corner!

Registration for the 2026 Therapeutic Recreation for the Disabled (TRD) softball season is now available. This year’s registration deadline is Friday, March 27, and the season begins play on Friday, May 1. Registration is now available online at www.trdohio.org.
“We are incredibly proud of the league that Steve Smith and the dedicated crew of leaders and volunteers at TRD have built,” says Kim Nuxhall, president and board chairman of The Nuxhall Foundation. “Their commitment to serving individuals of all abilities and all ages is a blessing to the special needs community throughout Greater Cincinnati. Athletes of all ages have a truly one-of-a-kind experience at our facility thanks to the vision of so many good people coming together to make it happen.”

It wouldn’t be the start of a new season at the Nuxhall Miracle League without a parade! Both youth and adult league athletes will kick off the season in style with Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields Opening Day Parade on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at 10:00am. The parade begins at Sacred Heart Church in Fairfield and makes its way to the Nuxhall Miracle League Fields, where players will be introduced in an on-field ceremony.

For the TRD Adult League, athletes will begin practices on Friday, March 13th, 2026, which will continue every week (excluding April 3rd) until the season opener on Friday, May 1st. The regular season will play through Friday, July 17th, and will be followed by a two-week playoff tournament with games scheduled for July 24th and July 31st. Always a fan favorite, the TRD Freddie Hoover Celebration and End of Season Picnic returns on Sunday, August 2 to cap off the summer schedule. This special event pays tribute to the TRD league’s elder statesman, Freddie Hoover, who passed away two years ago at the age of 80. The picnic was always one of Hoover’s favorite events each year.
Leagues at The Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields are managed and operated by partner organizations and a committed group of volunteers. Since the opening of The Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields in 2012, the Great Miami Valley YMCA and Therapeutic Recreation for the Disabled (TRD) have served as the providing partners for the youth and adult leagues respectively.
“TRD is an organization committed to making ‘baseball for all’ a reality, and we are thankful for the vision they’ve had for their program,” says Nuxhall. “We are grateful for all of their volunteers who spend their Friday nights coaching and supporting their athletes, and to all of the parents, family members, and friends who come out to cheer them on. We can’t wait to kick off another great season in partnership with TRD!”

About The Nuxhall Foundation
The Nuxhall Foundation is the legacy foundation for former Major League Baseball pitcher and longtime Cincinnati Reds broadcaster, the late Joe Nuxhall. The Nuxhall Foundation carries forward three important legacy projects. A central project of The Nuxhall Foundation is The Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields—an entirely accessible baseball and recreational facility where every player with every challenge gets every chance to play. Historically, nearly 300 athletes with physical and developmental disabilities aged 4 to 80 participate in programs at the Miracle League Fields. The Joe Nuxhall Memorial Scholarship (in conjunction with the Fairfield Community Foundation) provides more than $40,000 per year in scholarship money to student athletes at all 14 Butler County high schools. Very soon, the Joe Nuxhall Memorial Scholarship will cross the million-dollar mark in scholarship money awarded. The Joe Nuxhall Character Education Fund pitches good character to young leaders throughout Greater Cincinnati by delivering and supporting programs that stress the importance of integrity, humility, respect, and kindness. In 2024, The Nuxhall Foundation launched a $12 million capital campaign to construct The Hope Center, a year-round recreational facility for athletes with special needs that will help to create the world's most comprehensive athletic campus for individuals with disabilities.
