FAIRFIELD, OH (December 6, 2021)—Lance McAlister, the host of 700 WLW's acclaimed Sports Talk and a Cincinnati broadcasting icon, has blessed The Nuxhall Foundation with an early holiday gift.
In partnership with Cincy Shirts, a new shirt featuring one of Lance's iconic catch phrases is now on sale with a portion of the proceeds from each sale benefitting The Nuxhall Foundation and The Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields. Shirts can be customized and purchased through Cincy Shirts on their website or at their retail locations in Hyde Park and OTR.
"My family has been so blessed over the years," says McAlister. "We have great respect for what The Nuxhall Foundation does to help families and continue the legacy of The Ole Lefthander. Josh Sneed and Cincy Shirts have been friends and good to my show for years. Kelly and I thought this was a perfect opportunity to align with Cincy Shirts and The Nuxhall Foundation to continue helping others."
McAlister is the ultimate authority on all Cincinnati sports, also hosting the Reds Inside Pitch & Extra Innings shows, and Bengals Line. The shirt created by Cincy Shirts features Lance's iconic phrase—"I LOOOOOVE WINNING!"—and is available in custom colors for fans of different Cincinnati sports franchises and teams.
Lance and his wife, Kelly, also upped the giving with this new apparel collection by agreeing to donate $5 for each of the first 100 shirts sold to The Nuxhall Foundation.
"We are fortunate to have so many wonderful supporters of our cause," said Nuxhall Foundation president and board chairman Kim Nuxhall, "but few ambassadors can top the platform of generosity that Lance McAlister uses to keep my Dad's legacy alive. At a moment's notice, Lance is always ready to help, and I find myself humbled by the many, many ways that he honors my Dad's career in Cincinnati as the years go on."
Chief among those tributes is the yearly tradition that McAlister began of re-playing Joe Nuxhall's final sign off from his retirement at the end of the 2004 season on each anniversary of the date. The final conversation with his beloved broadcast partner, hall of famer Marty Brennaman, is an iconic exchange between two dear friends and reminds listeners why they were the most revered baseball broadcasting duo of all time. Lance also regularly features and promotes initiatives of The Nuxhall Foundation, including The Joe Nuxhall Memorial Golf Outing and most recently the COVID Still Can't virtual awareness and fundraising campaign.
"Both on air and off, Lance McAlister is an absolute class act," said Nuxhall Foundation executive director Tyler Bradshaw. "Joe's memory and mission are alive in such substantial ways partly because of his reverence for The Ole Lefthander and his dedication to honoring him. This new partnership with Cincy Shirts that benefits our organization is yet another reason why we love Lance."
The Nuxhall Foundation is the legacy foundation for former Major League Baseball pitcher and longtime Cincinnati Reds broadcaster, Joe Nuxhall. A central foundation project is The Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields, an entirely accessible baseball and recreational facility where every player with every challenge gets every chance to play. More than 200 players between ages 4 to 76 participate in programming at the Miracle League Fields. Additional legacy projects include The Joe Nuxhall Memorial Scholarship (providing scholarships to all fourteen Butler County high schools) and The Joe Nuxhall Character Education Fund.
