Joey The Can-Do Kangaroo bounces around the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields with endless enthusiasm and lots of positivity—just like our special needs athletes! As part of our 10th anniversary celebration at The Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields, we are excited to welcome Joey to our team!
Meet Joey!
He's a "Can-Do Kangaroo" who can do anything! And now, Joey is calling the Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields his new home!
Just like our all-stars, Joey loves to play baseball, run around the basepaths, hop around (he's pretty good at that one), do celebration dances, and toss his hat into the air at home plate when someone scores.
And just like our all-stars, Joey proves that with character, determination, and optimism...
you can do anything!

Why Joey?
Baby kangaroos are called "joeys." What better way to honor our namesake and inspiration, Joe Nuxhall, than with a Joey of our own? Joey is a big fan of Joe Nuxhall, and even wears his same 41 jersey number! Joey is learning to throw left-handed so he can honor his hero, and even wears a bright red jersey to represent Joe Nuxhall's 60-year legacy with the Cincinnati Reds.
Just Like Us
As a young roo, Joey realized that his powerful kangaroo legs were just a little bit different. His legs, like some of our JNMLF all-stars, just needed a little extra help and support. Now, Joey wears his extra-special leg braces that provide him the help he needs to run and play. With each and every hit or play in the outfield, Joey is proving that there's nothing he can't do!
Joey is a friend to all of our athletes at The Joe Nuxhall Miracle League Fields because he can identify with their unique needs.

This character-based children's book is authored by Nuxhall Foundation Board Member Chad Caddell and illustrated by Daryll Collins.
In this beautiful, 32-page, color-illustrated book, you'll see Joey find the courage and determination to overcome his physical limitations when he's picked to play in the Community Kickball-A-Palooza! And you'll be reminded that there's nothing you can't do!
The book is available for purchase on our website and at the JNMLF concession stand during games for $10.
